Paul Saurini goes full Doc Ock on this week’s Quantum Recall Pre-Show: four mechanical arms, the whole world on his shoulders, and two spare arms still typing. He’s short on sleep, burning the candle at both ends, and strung out on AI, but getting amazing things done anyway, because he’s started vibe coding his own software and can barely stop.

On This Week’s Pre-Show

  • Vibe coding nonstop: Paul is building his own software with AI, and once he saw what was possible, he could barely step away from the keyboard.
  • Candle at both ends: running on less sleep than he should and still managing okay.
  • My LLM’s pride and stubbornness: what it’s like when your AI model digs in and won’t back down.
  • Thursday preview: a short, loose warm-up for the main show, Quantum Recall LIVE at 12:30pm MT on X, YouTube, and Rumble.

Vibe Coding Nonstop: What Paul Built This Week

Paul has logged roughly 16 to 17 hours of vibe coding over three days on a complex program he searched the internet for years to find and never could. A smaller app came first, built in about two hours on a Sunday morning, and it opened the door to everything else. He plans to sell both programs, is testing the bigger one with four different mixers in his house, and is looking for beta testers.

His take on vibe coding is simple: you need two skills, clear communication and reasoning. If you can explain exactly what you want and how it should work, AI can build it. He tells critics not to be too prideful, says the “AI slop” complaints will age badly, and notes that AI even helped design the logos and website for his new software.

When he showed his parents the musical result, he pointed out that the real story is the software itself: a project that would once have taken an agency of five to ten people hundreds of hours, built by describing what he wanted.

Burning the Candle at Both Ends

The downside of vibe coding all day is sleep. Paul has been waking at 3:30 to 4:45am with his mind already racing, and he jokes that he is so tired he feels like he is skipping beats. Ironically, he recently read a book called Rest. Claude even pinged him late one night to say his videos had not posted, when they had. To decompress he has leaned on a chiropractor visit, prayer, a deliberate relaxation routine, morning walks with good music and afternoon naps.

An AI Team With Personalities

Paul gives his AI assistants characters to play: Turtle from Entourage helps with T-shirt designs, Lloyd handles the software, Jarvis is chief of staff, Ava Daniels from Hacks and Peggy Olson from Mad Men write for him, and “Quentin Tarantino” generates video on Higgsfield. He says the personas make the work more fun, and he is using the whole team to 10X his workflow, which he puts somewhere between 2X and 4X today, with a T-shirt business and show merch on the way.

His message to AI skeptics: tune out the doom and gloom and the politicized takes, study the tools yourself, and make them work for your own life.
